Two dumpers were fined by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) for dumping debris within its jurisdiction. A penalty of ₹30,000 was imposed on each of the vehicles.
The action was taken after a complaint was received on social media, alerting that debris was being dumped near the Ghansoli Women’s Empowerment Centre. Upon receiving the complaint, a flying squad was immediately assigned to visit the location and asked to take appropriate action, as confirmed by an official.
To ensure the cleanliness of the city, the NMMC has been closely monitoring daily sanitation efforts. It was stated that dumping of debris and construction waste in public spaces is strictly prohibited.
“Flying squads have been deployed to monitor and curb such illegal activities. For proper disposal, a C&D Waste Management Project is available at Turbhe, where citizens can dispose of construction and demolition waste,” the official added.
Citizens have been forewarned that strict penalties and legal action will be taken against individuals or organizations involved in defacing the city by dumping debris. “A total of ₹60,000 was levied on the two vehicles caught dumping debris, and similar actions will continue,” the official concluded.
