Nashik Videos: NMC’s Anti-Encroachment Team Demolishes Unauthorised Structures Near Pir Baba Dargah In Kathe Galli Area | Sourced

The Nashik Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) anti-encroachment department, with the support of a large police force, launched a campaign on Saturday morning to remove several unauthorised structures near the Pir Baba Dargah in the Kathe Galli area.

To maintain law and order, traffic on eight roads in the area was completely closed, and the gathering of five or more people was prohibited. The deployment of heavy police forces turned the area into a virtual police camp.

The unauthorised religious structures were located on the road leading from Kathe Galli Signal to Nagji Chowk, Mumbai Naka. The municipal corporation, in collaboration with the police, planned and executed the demolition drive while deploying a strong police presence to prevent any untoward incidents.

Before the action, messages calling for a protest at Kathe Galli Chowk against the municipal corporation were circulated on social media, while some groups opposed the protest. Fearing potential law and order issues, the police restricted gatherings in the area, prohibiting any marches or protests.

Under the Indian Penal Code provisions, the assembly of five or more people was banned in Nashik Circle I, and all roads leading to the area were barricaded with iron bars, restricting entry. This caused inconvenience to residents, and shops and businesses were instructed to remain closed until the operation was completed.

Mahant and activists detained

During the demolition drive, the police detained Mahant Sudhirdas Pujari and 10 activists who had gathered in the area. Pujari stated that they had no plans for agitation and claimed that they were detained without prior notice. The administration, however, assured that action would be taken against unauthorised constructions.

Traffic closure on eight routes

From 6am, traffic was completely halted on the following routes:

1. Dwarka Chowk-Nashik Road on the Pune Highway

2. Santosh T Point to Dwarka Chowk on the Mumbai-Agra Highway

3. Indiranagar Jogging Track to Mumbai Naka via Sewa Road

5. All vehicles heading to Mumbai Naka via Dwarka Chowk

6. Raghoji Bhangre Chowk to Sahil Lawns Marg

7. Nagji Chowk to Kathe Galli Signal

8. Osmania Chowk to Muradbaba Dargah

All incoming and outgoing vehicles on these routes were diverted to alternative routes.
