Nitish Kumar Reddy achieved a significant milestone by scoring his maiden Test century during the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against Australia and become third youngest player to score century in Australia in debut test series. The emotional moment came when Nitish smashed a boundary to reach his century, leaving his father deeply moved.

After the day’s play, a video surfaced on social media showing Nitish’s family his father Mutalya Reddy, mother, and sister all overflowed with emotion as they celebrated his achievement. Nitish’s father, speaking with pride, said, “It’s a big day for us. A very special moment—Nitish’s first international century. I’m so happy.”

Below is the video shared by Rev Sportz:

Nitish’s sister revealed how their father had been praying for him during the match. “It’s a very special day. We all gathered just to see him play, and watching him score a century is indescribable,” she said. She also shared her thoughts on a gift for Nitish, saying, “Nitish has already given us the best gift—a century.”

Nitish idolizes Virat Kohli, and when asked about Kohli giving Nitish a standing ovation, his father emotionally remarked, “Hard work, just hard work.” Nitish’s mother expressed her joy, saying, “It’s a very, very special day. I’m so happy.”

Nitish’s Century Helps India Fight Back on day 3

Nitish’s ton played a crucial role in helping India recover on Day 3. At the end of Day 2 India lost key wickets, including Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. However, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja tried to stabilize the innings but couldn’t add much to the scoreboard.

It was the partnership between Nitish Reddy and Washington Sundar that turned the tide for India. Sundar’s resilient fifty and Nitish’s balanced approach of defense and attack frustrated the Australian bowlers. By stumps on Day 3, Nitish remained unbeaten on 105 off 176 balls, ensuring India stayed in the contest at 358/9.
