Mumbai: Following the grand inauguration of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, Day 2 of the four-day event promises to be equally captivating. The summit, themed “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries,” aims to position India as a global hub for entertainment and creative innovation.
Keynote Address By Nita Ambani
A major highlight on Friday is the keynote address by Nita Ambani, Chairperson of JioStar. The day’s schedule also includes a series of fireside chats and thought-provoking panel discussions featuring prominent figures from the film and music industries, such as Aamir Khan, South Indian superstar Nagarjuna and rapper Badshah.
The summit kicked off on a high note on Day 1, drawing the presence of leading Bollywood personalities like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Karan Johar.
PM Modi Inaugurates WAVES 2025
PM Modi graced the first edition of WAVES in Mumbai with his presence and inaugurated the event yesterday. During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the growing global influence of India’s creative industries. He described the event as the dawn of India’s ‘orange economy’, a term used to represent the cultural and creative sectors.
Highlighting the international appeal of Indian films, cuisine, and music, the Prime Minister said, “India’s food is getting popular across the world. And I know, India’s music too will gain popularity around the world.”
He stressed the importance of supporting creators and pledged government backing for initiatives that nurture talent and creativity. “Every creator is bringing a creative wave,” he said, adding that WAVES would serve as a platform where art meets technology, where creativity blends seamlessly with coding and augmented reality.
Modi encouraged India’s youth to take advantage of the opportunities offered by WAVES, stating, “Tell your one billion untold stories to the world.” He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering artists through various schemes such as Skill India and start-up support, envisioning India as a launchpad for global creative talent.
PM Modi Unveils Postage Stamps In Honour Of 5 Legends Of Indian Cinema
Another noteworthy moment from the inaugural day was the release of commemorative postage stamps by Prime Minister Modi, honouring five legendary icons of Indian cinema: Guru Dutt, P. Bhanumathi, Raj Khosla, Ritwik Ghatak and Salil Chowdhury.
