Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Female cheetah Nirva has given birth to five cubs in Kuno National Park, Sheopur. She is five years old and was brought to Kuno from the Mapesu Reserve in South Africa.

Taking to his X handle, Union Forest Minister Bhupender Yadav wrote: “New Cheetah Cubs! Please join me in welcoming five precious new lives in Kuno National Park. In the lap of their mother Nirva, five years old and brought from Mapesu Reserve in South Africa, these cubs remind us of nature’s beauty and resilience.”

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also expressed happiness over the birth of the five cubs in Kuno. Congratulating the team of Project Cheetah, he said that the birth of the cubs reflects the success of the Cheetah Project.

Kuno now has a total of 19 cheetah cubs, apart from the adult cheetahs. The growing cheetah population is a sign that the cheetahs have adapted well to their new environment, and their next generation is set to establish another milestone of success under Project Cheetah.

It may be mentioned that on April 16, two adult male cheetahs were translocated to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary in Mandsaur. They too are showing great adaptability there.
