Television actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia, best known for her role in Choti Sarrdaarni, opened up about a shocking incident from her past. At just 19 years old, while interning as a law student in Delhi, she was sexually molested by a senior lawyer in the Supreme Court. She revealed that during her third year of college, she had gone to the courtroom to listen to a hearing, which was packed with people and where the judge was present. Nimrit also disclosed that she was not the only victim of this lawyer’s misconduct — on the very same day and at the same time, he had molested another female lawyer as well.

Speaking to Hauterrfly, Nimrit said, “I felt someone’s hand on my butt first. I thought I was overthinking it because everyone was in close contact. I looked back, and this guy was looking straight ahead—not making eye contact or even acknowledging my presence. I started getting a little anxious, and thought, okay, let me just change my position. Then, I felt someone touch my hand and it was the same guy again. He had moved from behind along with me, then again he did that to touched my butt. I could feel tears well up in my eyes, I was in such a state of shock.”

Further, Nimrit said that later a senior female lawyer approached her and asked if she was doing okay. The female lawyer then pointed at the man and asked if he was troubling her, to which Nimrit nodded in response. The actress revealed that the man had attempted to slip his hand inside her shirt just minutes earlier. Later, she smacked him across the face, and chaos erupted within minutes.

Nimrit added, “It’s just that you mentally feel like you’re in a safe space because you’re standing in the Supreme Court—and yet, it still happened.”

On the work front, Nimrit made her film debut with the Punjabi movie Shaunki Sardar, starring opposite Guru Randhawa.
