A newborn baby girl was found dead in Kalwa creek in Thane on Saturday. An official from the Regional Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation said that they received information from a passerby about a newborn baby girl found in the creek in Kalwa, Thane, on Saturday evening. Following this, a team was dispatched along with one fire brigade team, one pick-up vehicle, and one rescue vehicle to the spot. They alerted the local police about the incident.
According to the officials, with the help of local and police officials, they pulled the newborn from the creek and sent her to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa, where she was declared dead on arrival. The Kalwa police registered a case against an unknown person who allegedly threw the newborn in the creek. The police were reviewing CCTV footage from a nearby locality to determine who had thrown the newborn there.
