Sudiksha Konkani, a 20-year-old Indian-origin student from the University of Pittsburg, went missing earlier this month in Punta Cana’s popular tourist town Dominican Republic. Recently, a CCTV footage, claiming to show her at a bar hours before she disappeared, started doing the rounds on social media.
The video surfaced shortly after Konkani’s white netted Sarong and flip-flops were discovered at a beach in Dominican Republican.
In the clip, a woman, reported to be Konkani, could be seen with a group of friends along with a man identified as Joshua Riibe, a ‘person of interest’ in the case, as per a report by local publication Noticia SIN.
The woman could be seen covering her mouth with her hand, hunching over a patch of grass, seemingly vomiting.
Have a look at it here:
In the same clip, a while later, she can be seen hugging one of her friends. Meanwhile, Riibe, seen in white clothes, could be seen confronting another man outside the bar.
In another surveillance footage, which surfaced earlier, Konkani and Riibe could be seen walking arm-in-arm, wearing the same clothes.
Konkani Went Missing on March 6
According to reports, Konkani went missing on March 6 in Dominican Republic while she was on her spring break. She was staying at Punta Cana’s Riu Republica Hotel. She was last seen near the beach by the hotel before dawn, after she and her friends headed outside due to a power outage at the hotel.
In order to find her, authorities carried out massive search operations in the waters of the beach near the hotel where she was staying.
Her family reported that her belongings, including her phone and wallet, were left with her friends, despite her usual habit of carrying her phone at all times.
Konkani, along with five other female students, arrived in the country on March 3.
