With the rapid expansion of highway and expressway in the country, the rates of toll tax have also increased. Vehicles running on these highways have to pay toll tax, but now the National Highway Authority (NHAI) has made an important rule for the convenience of passengers. Under this, if the line of vehicles at the toll booth becomes more than 100 meters long, then the vehicles will be allowed to be allowed without toll tax.
What is the 100 meter rule?
NHAI had clarified in the year 2021 that the process of toll payment at any toll booth should not run more than 10 seconds. If the line of vehicles in busy hours (peak hours) becomes more than 100 meters long, the vehicles will be allowed to leave without any payment. For this, a yellow line is drawn at a distance of 100 meters from the toll booth. The line becomes toll free when going out of this yellow line. As soon as the line comes within 100 meters, the recovery of toll tax starts again. This will relieve long queues and traffic jam problem.
Only one toll plaza will be between 60 kilometers
According to the 2008 rules of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the minimum distance between two toll plazas has been fixed at 60 km. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also recently repeated it and clarified that he aims to have only one toll plaza on every highway in a distance of at least 60 kilometers. However, sometimes two toll plazas can also be made in this distance due to traffic jams, lack of space or other local problems.

At the same time, toll tax is taken on using highway or expressway, whose money goes to the concerned highway -making company or NHAI. There is no part of the state government in this.
