More details
The company had organised a Gudi Padwa celebration on March 28, ahead of the actual festival on Sunday. The employees were asked to come in Indian outfits to join the festive celebration at the workplace. However, this employee, who had not even served 28 days at the office, decided to ignore the dress code.
After receiving an email about the traditional day, she checked her wardrobe for one, only to learn she had to buy a new piece.
“Everything is new for me—new city, new people, new office—and I didn’t have a traditional outfit with me”, the employee posted on Reddit explaining why she couldn’t join the celebration in the mentioned dress code. “Since it’s the month-end, I didn’t have enough money to buy one”, she added.
Internet reacts

The internet reacted to the incident and wondered whether companies actually fine people for violating the dress code at a celebration or informal event like the traditional day. “Aisa bhi h-one laga ab? (Even such things have started happening now?)”, read a comment. “This! This This so much this!”, wrote another.
“I never faced any fines for not following those festive dress codes…If this is true and the company’s HR fines you ₹100, then they are a laughingstock”, netizens remarked.
