New English School emerged as the champions in the 23rd IES Madhav Mantri Cricket Cup Tournament 24-25. New English defeated VNS by seven wickets in the final at New Hind Sporting Club, Dadkar Maidan, Matunga. The Nine days tournament from February 7 to 27, which featured 12 teams from various schools was a huge success, with the participants showcasing their skills and passion for the sport.

The chief guest, Dr. Mangesh Potdar (Former IES student and Dental Surgeon), presented the awards to the winning team and individual prize winners. In his address, he congratulated the participants on their performances and encouraged them to continue pursuing their passion for cricket.

An illustrious alumnus of IES, Madhav Krishnaji Mantri (1 September 1921 – 23 May 2014) was an Indian cricketer who played in four Test matches between 1951 and 1955. He was a right-handed opening batsman and specialist wicket-keeper As a sports enthusiast and former Chairman of the Sports Centre, Mantri was renowned for his punctuality, discipline, and dedication to the sport. These values are embodied in the tournament that bears his name, which has become a benchmark for school-level cricket competitions in the IES.
