The ongoing debate about long working hours in India has now intensified. First Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy advocated 70 hours of working, then L&T Chairman S.N. Subrahmanyan created a new controversy by asking for 90 hours to work. Now the name of former NITI Aayog CEO and G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant has also been added to this list.
He said that Indians should work 80-90 hours a week as India needs tireless hard work, not a work-life balance to make a 30-trillion economy.
“Indians should work hard” – Amitabh Kant
Speaking at a program of ‘Business Standard’, Amitabh Kant said that talking about not working hard has become a new trend nowadays.

Is it really 90 hours of work possible?
After this statement by Amitabh Kant, mixed reactions are coming on social media.
- Some people believe that India will develop rapidly only by working hard.
- At the same time, some people criticized this statement to ignore the importance of work-life balance and mental health.
