Selena Gomez is officially engaged! The singer and actress, 32, announced her engagement to music producer Benny Blanco on Wednesday, December 11, sharing a glimpse of her breathtaking engagement ring and a sweet moment from the proposal.
“Forever begins now..,” Gomez captioned an Instagram carousel featuring close-ups of her sparkling ring and candid snaps of the couple.

Ann Grimmett, VP of Merchandising at Jared Jewelers, estimates the diamond to be about 6 carats, with an approximate value of $225,000. “Selena Gomez’s engagement ring is fitting for a talent as rare as hers given less than 5% of diamonds are marquise,” Grimmett shared in a press release. “The shape represents that what’s old is new again, with a history dating back to the 18th century, but also represents the trend to elongated fancies that we have seen growing rapidly over the past few years,” she added.
What originally inspired the formation of Marquise diamonds?
Marquise diamonds have a rich history, originally commissioned by King Louis XV of France in the 18th century. The shape was inspired by the smile of his mistress, the Marquise de Pompadour. Since then, marquise diamonds have been associated with elegance, royalty, and timeless beauty.
