Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, took to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday and wished Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Pune City Chief Dheeraj Ghate on his birthday. Along with the greetings, the Pune MP also posted a picture of the two on a bike. However, Ghate who was riding the bike, was seen without a helmet in the picture. Meanwhile, netizens are demanding that the Pune City Traffic Police take action.
“Attention @PuneCityPolice & @PuneCityTraffic Current MP of Pune @mohol_murlidhar, was spotted riding a two-wheeler without a helmet. This violates sec 129 of the MV act. Let’s ensure accountability and road safety for all,” a user commented.
“@mohol_murlidhar I would have accepted my mistake and to set an example, would have paid my fine, but let’s see what you do to showcase as a public figure and set as an example among Punekars,” another user wrote.
“@CPPuneCity @PuneCityTraffic Let’s see you sending challans to these politicians for driving two-wheeler without helmet. Set an example. This is the tragedy of Pune. When the political leaders should set an example, they do this..,” a third user wrote.
“@PuneCityTraffic One is MOS Govt of India, another is into public domain. Both are rep. of the common public but roaming on the road w/o helmet, clicking the photos while riding. Do you dare to challan them? Show your power if you really exist or you are only there to harass common public,” a fourth user said.
