Malhargarh (Madhya Pradesh): After reports of alleged medical negligence during operations in a sterilisation camp organised at the community health centre (CHC) here came to light, Congress leaders led by Malhargarh block party president Anil Sharma and district vice president Ramchandra Karun reached the CHC on Tuesday to inquire about the health of the affected women.
They distributed bread, milk, biscuits and fruits among the women. The Congress workers demanded strict action against the culprits for their negligence and sought adequate health facilities for the affected women at their homes.
Block medical officer (BMO) Jitendra Patidar also reached the hospital. Anita Solanki, 29, said that her sterilisation was done without giving her proper dose of anaesthesia. “I kept screaming in pain but the doctor feigned ignorance. I am still in a lot of pain,” she added.
Tasleem, 28, asked who would have taken the responsibility of her two children if something had gone wrong during the surgery, She is also in pain and unable to get up. BMO Patidar said that a team of doctors would treat the women and they would be given health services at home.
“A three-member team of doctors of the District Hospital, Mandsaur, has been formed to investigate the incident. The investigation report will be sent to higher authorities in seven days,” he said. Congress leader Karun demanded BPL cards for the affected women as they were from the underprivileged class. The family members of the affected women were also present.
