After the irregularities in NEET UG 2024 last year, the central government has decided to take steps towards making all the entrance examinations in the country more transparent and secure. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently revealed that a new exam pattern is being prepared for NEET UG 2025.

Expert committee formed after irregularities

After irregularities in NEET UG 2024, the Education Ministry has appointed former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. An expert committee was formed under the chairmanship of Radhakrishnan. This committee has come up with several recommendations to make the examinations fair and error-free.

NEET UG 2025: Exam may be computer based

Till now NEET UG exams have been conducted in pen-paper mode, but the government is considering moving towards Computer Based Test (CBT). The education and health ministries are discussing whether the examination should be conducted in the traditional manner or it should be digitalized. The Education Minister has also said to give priority to computer based examination.

The responsibility of the examination center is given to the District Magistrates.

As per the recommendations of the committee, the responsibility of examination centers in each district will be handed over to the District Magistrate (DM). DM will decide in which school or college the examination center will be made.

  • Security will be strengthened by deployment of police and paramilitary forces.
  • CCTV monitoring centers will be established in every district.
  • The centers will be monitored by NIC and NIT teams.

Special arrangements for north-east and hilly states

  • Mobile testing centers will be set up in Jammu-Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Andaman-Nicobar and north-eastern states.
  • This special arrangement will help in conducting examinations in difficult areas.

New arrangement on question paper and result

  1. There will be question papers in several sets:
    • NTA will have to prepare at least three sets.
    • There will always be a spare set for backup.
  2. Deadline for releasing result:
    • On the lines of JEE Advanced, the result date and time will be announced in advance.
    • It has been recommended to completely eliminate delay in results.

Presiding Officer and Examination Center Sealing

  • A presiding officer of NTA will be appointed in each examination centre.
  • Like sealing of EVMs during elections, the examination center will be sealed in the presence of the district administration and police.
  • This process will ensure that there are no irregularities in the examination.

Government’s priority: transparency and fairness

This new plan for NEET UG 2025 will ensure that the examination is not only transparent but also conducted smoothly across the country. Technical support and strict security measures will make the process more reliable for the candidates and their parents.
