India is set to host the inaugural Kho-Kho World Cup in New Delhi from January 13 to 19, showcasing the global rise in popularity of its indigenous sport.
Olympic gold and silver medalist Neeraj Chopra has extended his support for the tournament, urging fans to come together to celebrate the event. A video posted on social media, Neeraj said:
“Greetings everyone! Let’s all come together for Kho Kho. The exciting Kho Kho World Cup is going to be held in Delhi, which the whole world will watch from January 13 to 19 this year.”

The tournament, featuring 40 teams across men’s and women’s categories, will now proceed with 39 teams if Pakistan doesn’t participate.The Men’s Kho-Kho tournament kicks off on January 13, with India set to face Nepal in their first match if Pakistan does not participate.
The league stage concludes on January 16, followed by playoffs on January 17. The final will be held on January 19.
For the Women’s Kho-Kho World Cup, the opening match features England and Australia on January 13, while India’s women’s team will play South Korea on January 14.

Neeraj Chopra will headline a global javelin competition set to take place in India, likely in September, as announced by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). Outgoing AFI president Adille Sumariwalla shared this update during the AFI Annual General Meeting.
Additionally, India will host a World Athletics Continental Tour bronze-level event in Bhubaneswar on August 10. This marks India’s first global athletics meet since the international permit events held in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
