Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey shocked his fans on Monday after he put up a post on social media announcing that he has decided to step away from showbiz and “go back home”. However, the actor has now clarified that he was not ‘retiring’ from the film industry, but was only taking a ‘long break’.

Vikrant told News18 that he misses being home and that his work was taking a toll on his health, which is why he has decided to take a break. “I am not retiring… Just burnt out. Need a long break. I miss home and health is also acting up. People misread it,” he said, addressing his social media post.

Vikrant took to his Instagram in the wee hours of Monday and announced that his two films releasing next year would be his last ones for a while. “The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support. But as I move forward, I realise it’s time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor (sic),” he wrote.

“So, coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories,” he added.

Vikrant recently starred in The Sabarmati Report, which claims to tell the truth behind the burning of the Sabarmati Express in Godhra, which led to the Gujarat Riots in 2002. On Monday, the film was screened in the Parliament, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Amit Shah, Kangana Ranaut, Jeetendra and others, watched the film and lauded it for “showing the truth”.

Post the screening, Vikrant called watching his film with PM Modi the “highest point of his career”. “I still can’t fully express it in words because I am so happy… This is the highest point of my career, that I got to watch my film with the Prime Minister,” he shared.

The Sabarmati Report also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in key roles.
