Navies from various countries have deployed their warships in the Indian Ocean to prevent sea routes smuggling, drug trafficking and other crimes. Under this, on March 31, when the Indian Navy’s INS ‘Tarkash’ was on patrolling, the sea-operating center and Navy’s P-81 aircraft received information about suspicious activities of a ship.
The INS Tarkash moved towards the Arab ship near the Gulf of Aden and with the help of a helicopter blown from the ship. After this the ship was stopped and Marine commandos and special forces soldiers climbed on the ship and started searching the ship. During this investigation, a 2,500 kg cocaine was found hidden in a completely sealed box in the ship’s cargo. This includes 2386 kg of Hashish and 121 kg heroin. The Indian warship then controlled the ship and took all the crew members into custody.
This is the largest amount of cocaine seized by the Indian Navy in recent years. INS, an up -line warship operated under the Mumbai headquarters Western Navy Command, is searching for other suspected ships in the ‘Tarkash’ area. Based on the information received during interrogation of the captains of the Arab ship, a joint campaign is being carried out by the navies of various countries including India in the Indian Ocean to deal with drug trafficking through sea routes.
