Chaitra Navratri starts 2025 from March 30 and will run till 7 April. These nine days have special significance in Hinduism. Devotees worship the nine forms of Maa Durga and observe the fast. Along with religious faith, fasting also has a positive effect on the body, but it is not suitable for everyone. Nine -day fasting may be harmful in some health conditions. Let us know which people should not observe Navratri fast or fast only after taking advice of a doctor.
These people should avoid fasting:
1) Pregnant women
During pregnancy, complete nutrition and additional calories are required, which is obtained from grains and balanced diets. Cereals are not consumed in Navratri fasting, which can affect the growth of the infant in the womb. Therefore pregnant women should not fast for nine days.
2) Breastfeeding mothers
The baby up to six months gets complete nutrition only from mother’s milk. Breastfeeding women require sufficient nutrition and calories for themselves and for the child. Fasting can lead to weakness, which can also affect the health of the child. In such a situation, nine days of fast should be avoided. If you want to keep a fast, then only the first and last day fast can be kept.
3) People suffering from anemia
Anemia means that it is not appropriate to keep fast in the body due to lack of blood. In this situation, weakness persists and taking a limited diet for nine days can increase this problem further. In such a situation, it is necessary to seek the advice of a doctor before fasting.
4) Long sick people
If a person has a serious or chronic disease, he should avoid fasting. The body is already weak due to illness, and keeping fast can increase this weakness further. Keeping a long fast without doctor’s advice can be risky to health.
5) Diabetes Patients
Diabetes patients are required to have a regular balanced diet to keep their blood sugar level under control. During the fast, blood sugar levels can be unbalanced due to change in food, which can worsen health. Therefore, diabetes patients should consult a doctor before fasting.
