In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner has issued strict orders for heightened police presence across the city. Acting swiftly on these instructions, combing operations have been initiated in several areas under the jurisdiction of the Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate. The latest such operations were carried out in Rabale and Kamothe during the night, with large-scale police deployment and vehicle checks.
At Kamothe, the police conducted a midnight combing operation led by Senior Police Inspector Vimal Bidave, who personally supervised the drive. Key checkpoints such as the Shiv Sena Shakha and Vista Corner witnessed intense police activity, with barricades set up and vehicles—particularly two-wheelers—undergoing thorough inspections. The operation, which extended until 3 a.m. on Thursday, included five officers, 56 personnel, as well as Zone II’s striking force and RCP units.

“A total of 113 vehicles were checked, and action was taken against 22 for various violations. Police also cracked down on public nuisances, including those smoking in public and individuals creating disturbances. Records of five known accused were verified, and checks were conducted on five hotels and lodges, three sensitive locations, and ten individuals were booked under COPTA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) for smoking in public places,” PI Biddave said.
Simultaneously, a parallel operation was conducted in the Rabale jurisdiction under the direction of Deputy Commissioner of Police Pankaj Dahane. “Barricades and patrols were set up at key junctions including Temptation Hotel Chowk in Ghansoli and the Airoli Check Post. Inspections were carried out across lodges, hotels, and suspected hotspots in areas such as Airoli, Nocil Naka, Ghansoli and Talvali. The focus was also placed on illegal liquor activity, with action taken against individuals drinking in front of liquor shops and beer bars,” senior police inspector Balkrishna Sawant from Rabale police station said.
The campaign involved verification of criminal history, checks on wanted persons, and follow-up on pending warrants. In total, the operation involved two Police Inspectors, 17 officers, and 75 personnel along with ACP’s supervision.
