With a focus on improving air quality in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) area, a comprehensive Deep Cleaning Drive has been initiated. The campaign, which began on December 30, aims to significantly reduce dust levels on city roads, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for residents.
As part of the drive, detailed cleaning operations have been planned across various roads in all eight municipal divisions. These cleaning efforts are being overseen by Additional Commissioner Sunil Pawar, along with Deputy Municipal Commissioners. The cleaning process involves the use of hand brushes to remove accumulated dirt, mud, and waste from roads and sidewalks. After this, mechanized vehicles are employed to further clean the areas by spraying processed water. Additionally, fogging machines are being used to spray water into the air, helping to decrease dust levels in the atmosphere. The cleaning also extends to the walls, fences, and sculptures adjacent to sidewalks.
On January 4, a special cleaning drive was carried out in the Belapur division with the support of the Krit Foundatio. This initiative, focused on cleaning areas such as Belapur Jetty and Sector 15. Special attention was also given to cleaning the main road from Havare Circle to Apollo Signal, along with the surrounding areas.
In the Vashi division, deep cleaning operations from Jain Mandir to Santosh Dairy, covering roads, sidewalks, and surrounding areas in Sector 9A and 10A, was conducted.
In Koparkhairane, deep cleaning was conducted from treen tanki to Vaikunthdham. In Digha MIDC, a similar cleaning drive was executed which targeted roads from the Vodafone Company to Smith Hotel.
“The deep cleaning campaign will continue daily across all eight municipal divisions as per the planned schedule until January 13, 2025. The drive is expected to play a significant role in reducing dust pollution, improving air quality, and promoting cleanliness across Navi Mumbai,” Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde said
