Navi Mumbai journalists held a meeting with Forest Minister Ganesh Naik regarding the long-pending demand for the handover of the CIDCO-constructed Press Building to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC).

Reports of the building, constructed by CIDCO and handed over to the Directorate General of Information and Public Relations (DGIPR), had become a matter of concern for the journalist community. To address their grievances, a meeting was sought with the minister, which was conducted last week on Saturday at the Navi Mumbai Sports Club in Vashi.

“The meeting marked a historic show of unity, with journalists—senior, active, and budding—coming together beyond any organizational boundaries to press for their rightful claim. Their collective determination has brought the demand closer to fulfillment, and a positive resolution is expected soon,” said a member.

During the discussion, Minister Ganesh Naik personally spoke to Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde, directing him to formulate the necessary guidelines for the building’s official allocation. Furthermore, Naik announced that a written request would be submitted on Monday to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to expedite the process.
