Navi Mumbai: Dozens of commuters were left distressed on Wednesday morning due to the sudden cancellation of certain NMMT AC buses plying between Navi Mumbai and the World Trade Center (WTC) in South Mumbai.
About The Cancellation
After a long wait at their respective bus stops in Panvel, Kharghar, and Nerul amid scorching heat, several passengers received a rude shock to learn about the abrupt cancellation of three air-conditioned bus services on their routes.
The buses that were cancelled from April 16, 2025, indefinitely are 110/1, which leaves from Kharghar Sector-35 at 7:10 am. The next bus 106/1 departs from Panvel at 7:20 am, while the third bus 108/2 proceeds from Nerul Sector-46 at 8:00 am.
With no official intimation of the cancellations, the regular Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) bus commuters were forced to rely on an online Telegram group to get information and updates on the bus services.
Left in the lurch, many commuters then rushed to other parts of Navi Mumbai to catch a bus that could transport them to South Mumbai. Several others anxiously sped to nearby railway stations to avoid missing deadlines at their workplaces.
A distraught female passenger who wished not to be named said she has been travelling from Nerul to WTC regularly and had to wait for about half an hour at the bus stop clueless.
Annoyed by the cancellations, a group of daily passengers is considering starting a signature campaign and approaching the NMMT authorities to demand the immediate resumption of the three bus services.
