Maharashtra retained the top position with five gold and two bronze medals on the third day of the 68th National School Athletics Competition for boys and girls of under-17 age group org.zed by the Secondary Education Department of Uttar Pradesh. Haryana finished second with two gold, two silver and two bronze medals, while Uttar Pradesh’s Vikas Kumar brought glory to the state by winning a silver medal in the 3000 meters race.

On the third day of the competition, Soham Kumar Biswa of West Bengal stood first in the boys’ triple jump. Vineet Oran of Jharkhand stood second and M.sh Kumar of Tamil Nadu stood third. In the 3000 meter race, Badal of Delhi stood first, Vikas of Uttar Pradesh stood second and Rajan Raj of Bihar stood third. In Javelin Throw, Surendra Singh of Navodaya Vidyalaya stood first, .ket of Haryana stood second and Rohit of Rajasthan stood third. In the girls category, Swanandi Sawant of Maharashtra stood first, Vishnu Sri of Kerala stood second and Shreya Ithape of Maharashtra stood third in the 100 meter bandha race. In the 3000 meters race, Muskan of Haryana stood first, Srishti of Madhya Pradesh stood second and Varsha of Madhya Pradesh stood third. In pole vault, Jyoti of Haryana stood first, Amal Chitra of Kerala stood second, L Snigdha of Odisha stood third.

Chief guest of the third day of the competition, Pawan Singh Chauhan, member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, said that sports teaches us discipline and patience in life. Winning or losing is just a result, but our efforts and struggles make us a better person. Through sports we learn to face the challenges of life. Olympian Jatashankar Mishra encouraged the participants and said that sports is not just a physical activity, it is a medium to build our character and develop moral values. In the cultural evening during the competition, Kusum Verma and her team presented Awadhi folk songs and folk dances. . Apart from this, Faruvahi folk dance enthralled the audience. Chief guest Pawan Singh Chauhan and Olympian Jatashankar Mishra honored the winners with medals and bouquets. Excellent medical arrangements were ensured in the sports complex. A team of doctors, nurses, and pharmacists were present at each sports venue. Immediate first aid was provided to the injured players. Secretary Secondary Education Dr. Vedpati Mishra, Special Secretary Secondary Education Alok Kumar, Olympian Jatashankar Mishra, Org.zing Secretary Pradeep Kumar and other senior officials, players were present in the program.
