As there is not enough manpower to remove encroachments in Panchavati and other areas for Simhastha Kumbh Mela, the Nashik Municipal Corporation has now decided to outsource this work. For this, an expenditure of about Rs 17 crore has been approved in the next three years to implement the campaign by providing 160 manpower and machinery.
The Encroachment Removal Department of the Municipal Corporation is facing a shortage of manpower due to non-recruitment for many years. The proposal to fill various posts is pending with the government. In the backdrop of Simhastha Kumbh Mela, an action plan has been prepared to remove encroachments on the roads in the Panchavati division, 500 metres of the Kalaram Temple area, 3.4 kilometres of the Kumbh Mela Amrit (Shahi) Marg and Sadhugram area. Since it is necessary to implement the Ram Kal Path scheme and the encroachment removal campaign for Simhastha, the proposal to provide machinery and manpower for three years was approved in the recent general meeting.
Considering Panchavati and other departments, administrative and policy approval has been given for an expenditure of Rs 16.89 crore in the next three years to implement the encroachment removal campaign. Tenders for these works will be issued soon.
The municipal administration has expressed confidence that this decision will help in removing encroachments in the city before the Simhastha Kumbh Mela and will reduce the pressure on the administration.
