Mysuru Division awarded the Overall Efficiency Shield of South Western Railway along with multiple departmental shields for the Financial Year 2023-24 during the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar ceremony at the Zonal level held in Hubballi on Monday 10th February 2025

Mysuru Division, which achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever revenue of Rs1,451.9 crores in the Financial Year 2023-24, has been declared the joint winner of the Overall Efficiency Shield for the same period. Additionally, several departments within the division have also been honored with Efficiency Shields.

The Overall Efficiency Shield was presented by Arvind Srivastava, General Manager of South Western Railway, Hubballi, to Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager of Mysuru Division, during the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar celebrations held on 10th February 2025 in Hubballi.

In addition to sharing the Overall Efficiency Shield with Bengaluru Division, Mysuru Division secured Efficiency Shields for its Accounts, Commercial, Medical, and Operating Departments. The division also clinched the Inter-Divisional Safety Shield and Electrical traction distribution. Furthermore, the rake of Train Nos. 16217 and 16218 (Mysuru-Shirdi Sainagar-Mysuru) was recognized as the Best Maintained Rake across South Western Railway.

The Rail Madad War Room, established at the Mysuru Control Office to enhance passenger experience through real-time grievance resolution and measures to prevent overcrowding in reserved coaches, also earned accolades for the division. The Central Railway Workshop in Ashokapuram, Mysuru, was awarded for its outstanding efforts and achievements in staff training.

In a notable achievement, Bhesh Dutt, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer received the Innovation Shield for developing a cost-effective Single Barrel Pressure Cylinder flushing system for train toilets. Additionally, two officers and thirteen staff members were honored for their exceptional contributions during the financial year 2023-24.

Despite numerous challenges, Mysuru Division achieved its highest-ever freight revenue of ₹ 993.52 crores in FY 2023-24, showcasing impressive year-on-year growth. The division transported 11.649 million tonnes of freight, driven by the aggressive and sustained marketing strategies of its Business Development Unit (BDU). The movement of iron ore, petroleum products, and maize to distant destinations contributed significantly to this record-breaking performance, surpassing the figures of FY 2022-23.

In the passenger segment, the division generated revenue of ₹413.63 crore, carrying 33.09 million originating passengers. Despite ongoing safety-related works and electrification projects, Mysuru Division maintained an impressive punctuality rate of 96.32% for express trains and 96.83% for passenger trains during the year 2023-24.

Under the dynamic leadership of Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Division has introduced several initiatives to enhance passenger travel experiences. These include the establishment of the Rail Madad War Room and regular drives to address grievances in real-time and prevent overcrowding in reserved coaches. These measures have led to a significant reduction in complaints handled by the Rail Madad War Room, with the average number of complaints decreasing from 90 in June 2024 to 50 by February 2025, despite increased passenger traffic during peak holiday seasons.

Shilpi Agarwal commended the officers and staff of Mysuru Division for their unwavering dedication and commitment to providing safe and efficient services to passengers, as reflected in the numerous Efficiency Shields awarded to the division. She urged all railway personnel to continue striving for excellence, especially as the Railways are on the verge of achieving record performance levels following the completion of mega infrastructure projects such as electrification and station upgrades.
