Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Muslim women erupted with joy in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal after the Waqf Amendment Bill was presented in the Parliament on Wednesday.

Hundreds of women gathered at Rahmat in Hathaikheda Dam to celebrate the occasion. They hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and held placards that read, “We support the Waqf Amendment Bill”, “We support Modi Ji,” “Thank you, Modi Ji, and so on.

They were seen offering sweets to each other and even enjoying fireworks.

The celebration by hundreds of women highlighted the contrast, as barely two days ago on Eid, Muslim men expressed objection to the Waqf Amendment. They offered Eid namaz wearing black bands on their arms as a mark of protest against the Waqf amendment.

On the contrary, there were several instances in the city and state, when Muslim men were seen protesting against the passing of the bill. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr (March 31), the men offered namaz wearing black bands on their arms.

Outside the Eidgah, some youths also held banners in support of Palestine. At Moti Masjid, prayers were also offered for Yemen, Palestine, and the protection of Waqf properties.

Similar protests were seen in Morena, where the Muslim community raised concerns that the bill was unfair to their religious institutions.
