Punjab Kings’ young batter Musheer Khan was seen mimicking his skipper Shreyas Iyer during what appeared to be a function as ahead of their opening match of IPL 2025 on Tuesday against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. In a video surfaced on social media, Shreyas Iyer was left in splits over Musheer’s imitation act.

Shreyas became one of the most expensive players in the IPL auction history as he fetched ₹26.75 crore from the franchise last November. The right-handed batter was surprisingly released by the Kolkata Knight Riders despite ushering the franchise to their third title last year. Musheer, meanwhile, is yet to play T20 cricket but the promise shown in first-class cricket has earned him a maiden IPL contract and will turn out for Punjab.

Here’s the video of the same:

“I watched all our Ranji Trophy matches and Irani Trophy fixtures on television” – Musheer Khan recalls tough phase of his career

Musheer, who suffered a near-fatal accident last year along with his father during a road trip, disclosed that he was quite distraught at watching matches from his home, given his recovery. He spoke about it in detail in an interview with Sportstar:

“Since I could not move my neck and had to be mostly bed-ridden, playing cricket was out of the question, but at home, Abbu and our brothers would only talk about cricket, so my world revolved around the game. I watched all our Ranji Trophy matches and Irani Trophy fixtures on television, and since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was on, I watched all the matches. Abbu, my brother Moeen and I would often discuss the game, and I knew that I had to be patient and accept whatever had happened. Initially, I was sad to have missed out on the whole season, but then, I came to terms with it.”
