Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Municipal commissioner Shivam Verma on Tuesday expressed deep displeasure over the negligence of officials in handling public grievances and executing municipal works efficiently. During a review meeting held at the City Bus Office, he took strict action against several officers for their unsatisfactory performance and failure to resolve complaints within the stipulated time.

The meeting, which was attended by additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, department heads, and zonal officers, focused on the progress of key departments, including the Swachh Bharat Mission, Building Permit, Public Works, Sewerage and Revenue.

Show cause notices for lax Officials

Verma specifically reprimanded in-charge officer Jitendra Jamidar for his lack of interest in addressing water supply complaints and ordered for issuance of a show cause notice against him. Similarly, executive engineer Sanjeev Srivastava and assistant engineer (water supply) Manoj Kumar Jain were also issued show-cause notices for failing to resolve complaints received through the CM Helpline and Indore 311 App in a timely manner.

Strict Monitoring of Swachh Bharat, Building Permissions

During the meeting, Verma reviewed the pending applications in the Building Permission Department, emphasising the need for timely disposal of map approval requests. He instructed officers to ensure that all applications were processed within the stipulated timeframe. In preparation for the upcoming Swachh Survey, he directed zonal officers to intensify monitoring and ensure compliance with sanitation guidelines. Additionally, he reviewed the city’s traffic and parking management, particularly addressing the issue of illegal basement constructions being used for purposes other than parking.
