Mumbai: The Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview donated an ambulance to the only modern hospital in Nanded’s Kinwat city saving the lives of residents of the tribal area by providing them with a faster treatment.
The Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview includes members from some of the most upscale areas of Mumbai like Breach Candy, Nepean Sea Rd, Kemps Corner and Marine Drive. The non-governmental organisation is very active in social works in the tribal areas around Mumbai.
On Sunday, the NGO donated an ambulance to Sane Guruji Rugnalaya, a hospital located in the tribal area of Kinwat in Nanded district. Despite the importance of the hospital for being the only modern hospital in the region, it faces challenges in transporting patients from remote villages to the hospital and higher centers for further treatment.

On Sunday, the members of the club organised a small event opposite the Malabar Hill Club at 8.30am, where the ambulance was handed over to the hospital authorities. The hospital representatives said that the nearest cities, Nanded, Yavatmal, Hyderabad, and Nagpur, are 150 km to 300 km away, making timely medical care difficult as delayed transportation can have severe consequences for patients.
Rajni Barasia, president of the club, said, “We are pleased to announce the generous donation of an ambulance to Sane Guruji Rugnalaya, fulfilling their urgent need for a reliable patient transportation system. This donation will significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to provide quality healthcare services to the community. An ambulance would enable the hospital to transport patients quickly and safely, providing timely medical attention in emergency situations. This would bridge the gap in healthcare services in the region.”

Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview has also been organising ‘Samuhik Vivah’ for the underprivileged tribal couples living in the remote villages of Palghar since 2022. The most recent group wedding was organised on December 15, 2024, which got 25 such couples married, taking the total figure to 100 couples.
