Mumbai: The People’s Education Society’s Adv. Balasaheb Apte College of Law in Mumbai has been recognised with the Grand Jury Award for “Outstanding Leadership” under the EducationWorld India Higher Education Rankings 2025–26.

The award was presented at a ceremony held in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, on April 25. It was accepted by Advocate Anjali Helekar, Vice President of the People’s Education Society, and Professor Vaishali Gurav, Acting Principal of the college. The event was attended by PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner Vivek Shukla and Design, Creativity and Media Director Suchendra Kumar.

Founded in 1999, EducationWorld describes its mission as “building public opinion to place education at the top of the national agenda”. Since 2019, it has introduced Grand Jury Rankings to recognise higher education institutions across India.

Established in 2012, ABA College of Law offers B.A. LL.B. (five-year integrated course), General LL.B. (three-year programme), and recently launched LL.M. degrees specialising in Business Law and Criminal Law. College officials said the institution has “emerged as one of Mumbai’s leading law colleges” within a relatively short period.

Students have secured medals at university level and won accolades at national and state-level competitions, including events hosted by Surana & Surana, Nani Palkhivala Memorial Trust, Hidayatullah National Law University, National Law University Odisha, National Law University Gujarat and Amity University.

Speaking at the event, Helekar said the award “recognises the college’s commitment to producing capable advocates, judges and educational leaders who contribute meaningfully to society and the nation”. Professor Gurav added that the recognition would “further strengthen the college’s efforts to uphold academic and professional excellence”.
