Mumbai: A Mumbai resident highlighted an issue involving a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) garbage truck running a red light and breaking the traffic signal near the JB Nagar Metro Station in Mumbai. The issue was mentioned by the account (@RoadsOfMumbai). The user pointed out this incident on March 31 via drawing attention to the violation.

In their post, the resident also provided the details of the vehicle, including its number plate: MH-01-CV 1022, emphasising the disregard for traffic rules by the municipal vehicle.

The resident’s message aims to highlight the issue of municipal vehicles in Mumbai ignoring traffic rules. By pointing out this problem, the user hopes to encourage authorities to take action and prevent such violations in the future. The resident also shared a screenshot of the truck’s number plate as proof, hoping to help address the issue of signal jumpers.

While addressing the issue Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Stated “We have informed Sahar Traffic Division for the necessary action.”

Highlighting the same issue, one netizen expressed doubt that any action would be taken, pointing out that similar concerns had been raised a few days earlier, with the response from Sahar Police promising action. However, the user claimed that no action was ever taken so far. The user also said that the BMC garbage truck driver was seen entering a “No Entry” lane.

Many others responded to the post, sharing their frustration with traffic violations. One user mentioned that BEST drivers, police vehicles, and share auto drivers in Borivali—especially those heading towards Gorai and Ganpat Patil Nagar IC Colony—are “colour blind” and routinely ignore traffic signals.

On a different note, another user raised a valid concern about the parking of BMC garbage trucks on Chakala Junction Road. They questioned why the BMC doesn’t provide designated parking spaces for the trucks.
