Two hoax calls were reported in Andheri East recently. In the fist incident on Friday, the Sahar police control room received a call in which the caller claimed that a bag containing a bomb had been left in a residential apartment in Andheri East. “We immediately rushed to the society. However, nothing suspicious was found,” a police officer said.
The investigation revealed that the call had been made by a 19-year-old boy who was found to be autistic. “In cases involving individuals with mental illness, we cannot file a case,” the officer explained.
In another case on April 30, the Mumbai International Airport’s helpline number received a call saying, “CSMIA dhamaka hua hai… NCG Kurla ko bata do, Republic Tata ko bata do… Modi party ko bata do, Sanjay Raut ka accident dekha … Gopalganj se hoon.” When the officer asked for his name, he claimed to be Pradeep Shiv Kumar Sahani.
The Sahar police registered a case against an unidentified individual under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police yet to trace the caller.
