Mumbai Police Gymkhana registered a comprehensive 10-wicket victory against New India Assurance in a semi-final match of the 14th Insurance Shield T20 cricket tournament, organized by Oriental Insurance Company and played at Cross Maidan on Tuesday.

The Mumbai Police bowlers did well to dismiss New India Assurance for a low total of 73 all out in 16.3 overs. The top scorer was Sanskar Dadelkar who scored 36 runs. The leading wicket-takers were Hashim Sayyed 3 for 18, Nishit Balla 2 for 8, and Mahadev Kadam 2 for 22 which restricted the opponents to a small total.

In response the Mumbai Police batters did no lose a wicket reaching 77 for no loss in 7.1 overs. Opening batsmen Jayesh Chandankar and Tanmay Mayekar were unbeaten on 41 and 34 runs respectively as the team crossed the finish line.

In the second match, Union Bank of India defeated Choughule SC by a narrow 13 runs.

Brief scores (semifinals): New India Assurance 73 all out, 16.3 overs (Sanskar Dahelkar 36; Hashim Sayyed 3/18, Nishit Balla 2/8, Mahadev Kadam 2/22) lost Mumbai Police Gymkhana 77 for no loss 7.1 overs (Jayesh Chandankar 41*, Tanmay Mayekar 34*). Result: Mumbai Police Gymkhana won by 10 wickests.

Union Bank of India 157 for 8, 20 overs (Roop Yadav 68, Mohammad Shaikh 22; Rohit Yadav 3/6) beat Chougule SC 144 for 7, 20 overs (Jitesh Raut 31, Soham Maki 31, Ajay Jaiswal 30; Gaurav Banwar 3/29, Tanay Khandeshi 2/19). Result: Union Bank won by 13 runs.
