The Special Branch-1 of the Mumbai Police has released its 2024 data on the apprehension and deportation of Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the city. A total of 163 individuals were detained, comprising 143 males, 17 females, and 3 minors. Of these, six individuals were extradited during the year under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).

Monthly Deportation Breakdown

January 2024: 19 deported (14 males, 5 females, 3 minors); 5 females extradited under PITA.

February 2024: 14 deported (13 males, 1 female).

March 2024: 15 deported (15 males).

April 2024: 23 deported (23 males).

May 2024: No cases reported.

June 2024: 17 deported (16 males, 1 female).

July 2024: 27 deported (26 males, 1 female).

August 2024: 8 deported (6 males, 2 females).

September 2024: 10 deported (10 males).

October 2024: 16 deported (15 males, 1 female).

November 2024: 3 deported (3 males).

December 2024: 7 deported (7 males).

The deportation operations also led to the seizure of mobile devices and documents from the detained individuals, aiding further investigation.

The Special Branch underscored that these actions are part of their continuous efforts to maintain law and order in Mumbai. The department reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and taking strict measures against illegal immigrants residing in the city.

This focused approach highlights the city’s stringent measures to tackle unauthorized migration and associated concerns effectively.
