The Mumbai Police have apprehended a person from Punjab for allegedly spreading false information, claiming that ₹2 lakh was paid to kill actor Tiger Shroff. The investigation revealed that Singh had deliberately framed his superiors over salary and termination issues. The Khar Police have registered a case against the accused for allegedly spreading false information.
The accused has been identified as Manish Kumar Sujinder Singh, 35, a security gaurd. Originally from Punjab, Singh called the Mumbai Police control room on Monday at 10 am and claimed that some individuals from the security company Trig were planning to kill actor Tiger Shroff. Moreover, the accused stated that he had been given a weapon and a ‘supari’ (contract) worth ₹2 lakh to carry out the murder. This call caused a stir, and the security system was immediately activated following the threat made in the actor’s name.
However, after verifying the facts, the police discovered that Manish Kumar had provided false information to the control room.
Deputy Commissioner of police, (additional charge of Zone-9) Nimit Goyal, stated, “The police had filed an FIR on Monday. The team has apprehended the accused. It was a complete hoax, as the story on verification was completely false. The accused is coming with the team.”
As a result, the Khar Police have registered a case against him under Sections 212 (furnishing false information), 217 (giving false information with intent to cause a public servant to misuse lawful power to injure another person), and 353(2) (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The investigation uncovered that Singh had deliberately framed his superiors with false accusations and had gone as far as threatening the company’s owner through intimidating phone calls after securing his contact details. His actions were driven by resentment over salary deductions and his termination, which was the result of repeated absenteeism.
Earlier, Singh had worked as a security guard at a restaurant in Mumbai’s Khar area. His knowledge of the neighbourhood and local connections enabled him to craft a believable yet entirely false narrative during the threatening calls.
