Mumbai: The Nagpada Police Station has registered a case against a tempo driver and his associate for allegedly transporting meat illegally. The accused, identified as Riyaz Khan (49) and Parvez Khan (43), were booked under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 66(1) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to police sources, the interception occurred on Sunday night in the Nagpada area, where authorities seized 200 kg of meat from the tempo. Following the seizure, a group of protesters gathered outside the JJ Marg Police Station, claiming the confiscated meat was beef.

DCP Dattatray Kamble confirmed to FPJ that the seized meat has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for verification. Meanwhile, the JJ Marg Police have also filed a case against the protesters for raising slogans outside the station. The investigation is ongoing.
