Commuters traveling on Central Railway this Sunday, coinciding with the festive occasion of Gudi Padwa, may face major disruptions due to scheduled mega blocks for maintenance work. A statement issued by CR on Friday stated that Central Railway’s Mumbai Division will operate a mega block on its suburban sections to carry out various engineering and maintenance works on March 30.

“These maintenance mega blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and safety. Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused,” the statement further added.
Block On UP and DOWN slow Lines between Thane and Kalyan stations from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm
During the block, down slow/Semi-fast locals from Mulund (10:43 AM – 3:53 PM) will run on the down fast line between Mulund and Kalyan, stopping only at Thane, Kalva, Mumbra, Diva, and Dombivli and reaching their destination 10 minutes late.
Similarly Up Slow/Semi-fast locals from Kalyan (10:36 AM – 3:51 PM) will be diverted to the Up Fast Line up to Mulund and then shift back to the Up Slow Line, reaching destinations 10 minutes late.
Thane Locals will continue to operate on the Down Slow Line.
All services arriving/departing CSMT Mumbai (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM) will run 10 minutes late.
Block on UP and DOWN Harbour Lines between Kurla and Vashi stations from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm
No trains between Kurla and Vashi during the block period.
Harbour line trains from CSMT to Vashi/Belapur/Panvel (10:34 AM – 3:36 PM) will be canceled.
Harbour line trains from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT (10:16 AM – 3:47 PM) will be canceled.
Special local trains will run between CSMT-Kurla and Vashi-Panvel.
Harbour line passengers can travel via Thane-Vashi/Nerul or main line on same pass or ticket from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
Special Block for Electronic Interlocking Work at Neral (8:30 AM – 2:30 PM)
No suburban trains will be available between Badlapur and Karjat from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM
Several CSMT-Karjat and Thane-Karjat locals will be short-terminated at Badlapur or Ambarnath during the block period.
The CSMT-Karjat local S-17, departing from CSMT at 9:57 AM, the CSMT-Karjat local S-19, departing from CSMT at 10:36 AM, the CSMT-Karjat local S-21, departing from CSMT at 11:14 AM, the Thane-Karjat local TS-5, departing from Thane at 12:05 PM, and the CSMT-Khopoli local KP-5, departing from CSMT at 12:20 PM, will all be short-terminated at Badlapur.Additionally, the CSMT-Karjat local S-15, departing from CSMT at 9:30 AM, will be short-terminated at Ambarnath station.
Several Karjat-CSMT services will start from Ambarnath instead of Karjat during the block period.
The Karjat-CSMT local S-26, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 11:25 AM, the Karjat-CSMT local S-28, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 12:00 PM, the Karjat-CSMT local S-30, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 12:23 PM, and the Karjat-CSMT local S-32, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 1:00 PM, will all short-originate from Ambarnath.Additionally, the Karjat-Thane local TS-2, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 1:27 PM, and the Karjat-CSMT local S-34, scheduled to depart from Karjat at 1:55 PM, will also short-originate from Ambarnath station.
Express Train Diversions
Coimbatore-LTT Express, Chennai-LTT Express, and Miraj-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express will be diverted via Karjat-Panvel and will halt at Panvel and Thane for passengers.
Other long-distance trains may be regulated at different stations en route.
No Day Block Over WR on Sunday, 30th March 2025, Night Block Between Santacruz and Mahim Stations
To carry out maintenance work on tracks, signaling, and overhead equipment, a jumbo block of 3 hours and 30 minutes will be undertaken on the DOWN slow line from 1:00 am to 4:30 am, while on the UP slow line, a block of 4 hours will be undertaken from 12:30 am to 4:30 am between Santacruz and Mahim stations in the intervening night of 29th/30th March 2025 (Saturday/Sunday).
During the block period, DOWN slow line trains will run on the DOWN fast line between Mumbai Central (Local) and Santacruz. Due to this, local trains will have a double halt at Lower Parel, Mahim, and Khar Road stations due to the inadequate length of the platform. These trains will not halt at Mahalaxmi, Prabhadevi, and Matunga Road stations due to the lack of a platform.
Similarly, UP slow line trains will run on the UP fast line from Santacruz to Mumbai Central (Local)/Churchgate. As a result, these trains will have a double halt at Khar Road station due to the inadequate platform length. These trains will not halt at Mahim, Matunga Road, Prabhadevi, Lower Parel, and Mahalaxmi stations due to the lack of a platform.
“Therefore, there will be NO BLOCK during the daytime on the Western Railway suburban section on Sunday, 30th March 2025” read the statement issued by WR.
