The first match of IPL 2025 became very special for Mumbai Indians (Mi) young spinner Vignesh Puthur. He not only performed brilliantly with his left -handed wrist spin but also impressed a veteran like Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Although Mumbai Indians suffered a four -wicket defeat against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), 24 -year -old spinner Vignesh from Kerala caught everyone’s attention with his bowling. He made a brilliant start with three wickets in his debut match and described the praise from Dhoni after the match as the most memorable moment of his career.
Not a place of happiness of parents

Vignesh Puthur’s father Sunil Kumar, who is an auto driver by profession, is very proud of the son’s success. They said,
“We never thought that he would play in his first match. We were not sure when he got an IPL contract. Now people are constantly calling us to congratulate us. We hope he will live up to everyone’s expectations.”
His mother Bindu also expressed happiness and said,
“Yesterday evening, he called and told that he could get a chance to play in the match. We were waking up all night and watched every ball. He did well. After the match was over, he called us at around 12:30 pm and we congratulated him a lot.”
Mumbai Indians had a deep connection before
Vignesh’s childhood coach Vijayan also told about his hard work and struggle. They said,
“Vignesh is a very disciplined player and has worked hard on hard arts like left -arm wrist spin. The specialty of Mumbai Indians is always praised that he tests the talent of the players, no matter how much cricket he has played.”
Mumbai Indians bowling coach Paras Mahambre said,
“When we saw her in the trial, it saw a special talent in it. Mumbai Indians always gives an opportunity to such possibilities. It is not easy to play the first match against a big team like Chennai, but he showed a wonderful spirit, which is Kabil-e-aptitude.”

Vignesh Puthur also received the ‘Best bowler’ award at the honor ceremony of the Mumbai Indians team. On this achievement, he said emotionally,
“I never thought that I would play with these legendary players. This is like a dream to come true for me.”
