Reinforcing Mumbai’s status as a cornerstone of sporting excellence, the Sports For All (SFA) Championships 2024 returns on Monday for their 7th edition, kicking off at the Football Ground, Mumbai Universty (Kalina). The event will see more than 21,000 school-level athletes, aged 3 to 18, competing in 27 sports across Mumbai, underlining the city’s commitment to promoting a vibrant sports culture.

This year, budding athletes will get the opportunity to showcase their skills at venues sprawled across the city, including Andheri Sports Complex, BPCA, Wadala, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Swimming Pool, Dadar, Mumbai Hockey Association, Churchgate, Mumbai University Sports Complex, Kalina, National Sports Club of India, Worli, Priyadarshini Park Sports Complex, Breach Candy, AITA Trust, Kalina, Railway Police Ground, Ghatkopar, Somaiya Sports Complex, Sion and St. Pius College Ground, Goregaon , marking a significant growth of the Championships. Moreover, 790 schools will be represented in this year’s SFA Championships.

The championships this year will run until December 12th, roping in participants from across Mumbai in a hunt for the best talents at the grassroots level.

“The SFA Championship is a celebration of grassroots sports and young talent across India. This event is not just about competition; it’s about giving every child the opportunity to excel in sports, regardless of their background. We are committed to creating an environment that nurtures future athletes and fosters a lifelong love for sports, with world-class venues and meaningful initiatives that highlight the importance of mentorship and gender equality in sports,” Rajas Joshi, the Founding Member and COO of the SFA Championship said.

Additionally, the SFA Championships will celebrate two special days in this year’s event. December 10 will be ‘Coach Day,’ honouring and celebrating their contributions, with engagement activities organised specifically to highlight their dedication and impact. Meanwhile, “She is Gold” Day, a day dedicated to celebrating women in sports, will take place on December 7, wherein 80% of the matches will feature female athletes coaches and officials.

The SFA Championships 2024 will bring an exciting lineup of competitions to Mumbai. The event will feature a range of sports, including Badminton, Boxing, Carrom, Chess, Shooting, Speedcubing, Wrestling, Gymnastics, Swimming, Hockey, Basketball, Fencing, Football, Judo, Kabaddi, Karate, Kho Kho, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Throwball, Volleyball, Archery, Squash, Athletics, Tennis, Handball and Skating.
