Mumbai: The Customs department has confiscated one kg 789 grams of cocaine during a raid at Mumbai airport. The worth of the confiscated cocaine is approximately Rs 18 crore, and a foreign national has been apprehended in connection with this case.
The woman was intended to be taken to Delhi via the cocaine, for which the suspect had consented to pay her one lakh Kenyan shillings (approximately Rs 66 thousand). However, prior to that, she was apprehended. The primary suspect in this case has been recognized and a manhunt is underway for him.
The Customs Department was informed that a woman traveler from Kenya planned to traffic drugs. Utilizing that information, the Customs Department set a trap at the Mumbai airport on Tuesday.
The female passenger under suspicion came to Mumbai from Nairobi through Doha. She was subsequently halted by the Customs officials due to suspicion. The women officials conducted a search on her. At that moment, one kilogram 789 grams of white substance was discovered in her bag. Upon investigation, it was discovered to be cocaine.
Dedicated Space To Conceal cocaine
The woman on trial, Emily Kanini Rodha, had created hidden compartments in her bag to conceal cocaine. Inside, the Customs Department discovered a total of one kilogram and 789 grams of cocaine. According to the Customs Department, its worth was Rs 17 crore 89 lakh. A case was filed against Emily Kanini Rodha under the Narcotics Control Act in this matter. She was subsequently taken into custody for this matter.
Cocaine Was To Be Delivered In Delhi
Emily Kanini Rodha, a woman traveling, was instructed to carry the cocaine confiscated from her to Delhi. She was expected to get one lakh Kenyan shillings (approximately Rs. (66,000) upon landing, but prior to that, she was detained at the Mumbai airport.
A woman named Millicent had provided her with the cocaine, and the same woman also booked her flight ticket. Following Millicent’s directions, she was meant to head to Delhi.
The Customs Department has obtained details regarding the individual to whom she was meant to deliver the cocaine. The officials from Customs are looking for him. The Customs Department believes that an international syndicate is responsible for this entire situation.
The defendant, Emily Kanini Rodha, required funds. As a result, she consented to transport cocaine illicitly. In this instance, the Customs Department has also filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act against Millicent, the woman who gave her the cocaine.
