Actress Prajakta Mali files complaint with Maharashtra State Women’s Commission over BJP MLA Suresh Dhas’ controversial remarks in the Beed Sarpanch murder case | Instagram

Maharashtra State Women’s Commission (MSWC) directed Mumbai Police on Monday to take immediate action and submit a factual report on actor Prajakta Mali’s complaint that MLA Suresh Dhas had made inappropriate remarks about her.

The complaint stems from comments made by Dhas in connection with the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, where he allegedly targeted State Cabinet Minister Dhananjay Munde and mentioned various female celebrities, including Mali.

Dhas, while discussing the incident, had mentioned that large-scale celebrity participation in events in Parli, a town in Maharashtra, was part of a unique ‘Parli Pattern’ in event management politics. He allegedly named several female artists, which Mali found offensive and defamatory. Following this, the actress approached the MSWC with a formal complaint.

According to the complaint, the statements and subsequent social media posts had a damaging effect on her personal and social life.

The MSWC has now taken significant steps to address the issue. The commission’s chairperson, Rupali Chakanakar, confirmed that they had received Mali’s complaint and would proceed with a thorough examination of the legal aspects. She assured that the commission would take appropriate action as per the law.

The commission described the matter as ‘extremely serious’, as it involves defamation and harm to a woman’s reputation. The commission has directed the Mumbai Police Commissioner to take immediate action and submit a report on the matter.

When questioned by the media about the case and the MSWC’s involvement, Dhas avoided commenting on the issue. He stated that for him, the matter was closed and that he would not speak about anything other than the murder case of Deshmukh. He further stated that he doesn’t want to shift the focus of Deshmukh murder case to other issues.

On Sunday, Prajakt Mali met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis who also assured her safety. He tweeted, “Any statement against her pride will not be tolerated and action will be taken against that person.” Fadnavis also assured her action against the YouTuber who maligned her image on the video platform.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday asked party leaders to refrain from making remarks that could impede the investigation into the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh.
