Mumbai: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) on Thursday dismissed reports of a question paper leak for the Maharashtra Group B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024 as baseless. Dr Suvarna Kharat, Secretary of MPSC, stated that the commission is fully prepared to conduct the examination transparently on the scheduled date of February 2 and urged candidates to focus on their studies instead of believing in rumours.

Addressing a press conference at the MPSC office in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, Dr Kharat refuted media reports suggesting that the question papers would be made available before the exam. She assured that all question papers are securely stored under strict security protocols and that such claims are completely false. She also cautioned candidates against fraudulent activities, stating that the commission has received reports of certain individuals contacting candidates and offering question papers in exchange for money.

The commission has lodged a formal complaint with the Pune Police Commissioner’s office against specific phone numbers being used to mislead candidates with such false promises. Dr Kharat warned that any candidate engaging in such illegal activities would face strict legal consequences. She urged candidates who receive such fraudulent calls to report them immediately by emailing the contact number(s) to [email protected].

The Maharashtra Group B (Non-Gazetted) Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024 will be conducted across all districts of the state, with 2,86,000 candidates set to appear. The commission has taken all necessary measures to ensure a smooth and transparent examination process, including deploying adequate security personnel at all exam centres, according to Dr Karat.

She further reassured candidates that the commission is committed to maintaining the integrity of the examination process. She emphasised that strict security measures have been put in place at all examination centres and that any attempts to disrupt the process will be dealt with firmly. She urged candidates to rely only on official communication from the commission and not to fall prey to misinformation.
