Candidates awaiting the final result of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) State Service Examination 2023 have expressed growing frustration over the inordinate delay in the recruitment process. The commission had published the general merit list after interviews in September last year, but despite over six months passing since then, the final result remains undisclosed.
The recruitment process, which was initiated almost two years ago for 303 State Service Group-A and Group-B posts, has seen repeated delays at multiple stages. The preliminary examination was conducted on June 4, 2023, with results declared on September 6. The main examination followed on January 20, 21, and 22, 2024, with results announced on July 16. Candidates then underwent medical examinations between August 1 and September 2, and interviews were conducted from August 13 to September 26. Despite this rigorous schedule, the final result remains pending, further aggravating the uncertainty faced by aspirants.
Candidates were given the opportunity to submit their preferences for posts between March 11 and 18, yet, even two weeks after the completion of this process, the final recruitment list has not been released. “When will the final result of the State Service Examination 2023 be declared? Preference link opened two weeks ago, but the result is still awaited!” asked a frustrated candidate.
Adding to candidates’ discontent is the prolonged gap between the release of the general merit list and the initiation of the post-preference selection process. Despite the merit list being published in September last year, the commission took six months to allow candidates to select their preferred posts. “Why did it take six months just to open the preference selection process? This delay is unacceptable,” an aspirant said.
Following the merit list announcement, the commission typically seeks candidates’ post preferences before releasing a provisional result. This step allows applicants the option to withdraw from the recruitment process before the final result is declared. The final result is then forwarded to the government for the appointment process. However, the ongoing delay has left many in limbo, unsure of their future.
Many candidates are now demanding immediate action from the commission to announce the final result without further delay. “The delay in the appointment process is causing mental stress among aspirants. The commission must clarify the situation and release the final result as soon as possible,” stated a concerned candidate.
In recent years, MPSC has been consistently criticised for its sluggish handling of examination results and recruitment processes, leading to growing discontent among aspirants. “This isn’t the first time we are seeing delays. Every recruitment cycle is stretched beyond reason, leaving us in a constant state of uncertainty,” said a candidate.
