Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A young man was held captive by his own friends for 24 hours in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior, as reported by police on Monday.

The kidnappers also recorded an obscene video of the victim and sent a QR code to his brother, demanding ₹50,000 as ransom. The police conducted a raid on Sunday night, rescued the victim, and detained the accused.

According to information, the victim is a resident of Kailaras in Morena. He had come to Gwalior on Saturday to get his mobile repaired near Koteshwar Temple. There, he met his social media friends, Nirmal Rai and Jaspal. He decided to stay with them for the night. Later, three more people, Sameer, Yusuf, and another unidentified man joined them.

Accused sent QR code to victim’s brother for money

This is when the accused held the young man at gunpoint and recorded an obscene video. They then blackmailed him, demanding ₹50,000. When he couldn’t pay in cash, they contacted his brother, sent a QR code, and forced him to transfer the money online.

The victim’s brother immediately informed their family about the kidnapping, who then alerted the police. Kailaras police coordinated with Gwalior police and traced the location of the accused to Koteshwar Colony in Bahodapur, Gwalior.

Further investigation underway

At around midnight on Sunday, police raided the location, rescued the victim safely, and took the suspects into custody. However, before the raid, the accused managed to delete the obscene videos and photos from their phones.

The police are now investigating the case further.
