Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Uttar Pradesh police are coordinating with their Madhya Pradesh counterparts to regulate the influx of pilgrims travelling from MP’s bordering districts to the historic Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.

Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police will work together to ensure a safe, seamless, and memorable Maha Kumbh 2025, officials said on Sunday. Police personnel have been deployed in border areas to maintain law and order, they added.

The neighbouring state police have asked the MP police to manage traffic heading to Prayagraj on the ‘Snan Day.’ Maha Kumbh — a 45-day event — is set to begin on Monday with the first major bathing ritual, or Shahi Snan, on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima at the Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers.

More than 45 crore devotees are expected to attend the event. SP Rewa, Vivek Singh, told Free Press that on the auspicious day, lakhs of devotees will visit the holy city. Rewa police have made arrangements to manage the pilgrims heading for Maha Kumbh.

Sharing the details, the SP said that, journey breaks are being arranged for pilgrims, a dedicated parking area has been set up, and refreshment corners have been installed. As per the instructions of the UP Police, the cops here will regulate the traffic movement and the vehicles will be halted and released in phases as they proceed to the holy city.

Police help center set at Suhagi ghat

A police help center has been set up at the accident-prone Suhagi hill ghat. Commuters will be stopped at the check post and alerted about the danger of the ghat. Police will ensure drivers remain highly alert while passing through the said stretch. If drivers appear drowsy, they will be asked to take a nap or be served tea. Drivers found in an inebriated state will be penalized.
