Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A case of sand mafia’s audacity has surfaced from Madhya Pradesh’s Ambah on Friday, where the miscreants attacked a forest department team and fled with a seized tractor.

The incident took place when forest officials stopped a tractor-trolley filled with sand from the Chambal River near Bareh. The mafia members first threw a motorcycle in front of the tractor to stop it. Then, they attacked the forest team and took back the seized vehicle.

Ambah Forest Range Officer Veer Kumar Tirkey, along with two SAF personnel and other staff, was on patrol in Morena. While returning to Ambah, they spotted a tractor-trolley carrying illegal sand.

Accused threatened cops of shooting them

When the officials tried to stop it, the driver overturned the trolley. After the trolley fell, the tractor engine was stopped, and officials noted the vehicle’s number. As they were taking the seized engine to Ambah, nine unidentified men arrived on three motorcycles. They threw their bikes on the road to block the way and started abusing and threatening the officials.

When the forest team took out their batons, one of the attackers warned, “If you hit us, we will shoot you.” After that, they forcefully took back the seized tractor and fled.

SDO Bhura Gaikwad of the Forest Department confirmed that the team had captured photos and videos of the incident. A complaint has been filed at Ambah police station, and further investigation is underway.
