Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The principal of a government school in Madhya Pradesh’s Anuppur district has been arrested on the charges of molesting three minors. The arrest took place on Saturday by a team of police officers in the district.

The principal has been accused of molesting three minor girl students on the pretext of failing them. One of the students complained about the same to their parents, who in turn filed a complaint at the police station. Taking swift action, police apprehended the accused.

According to information, the 61-year-old principal had been committing the crime for a long time. He used to threaten the girl students with failing them or even expelling them if they did not obey his orders. This went on for long until one of the class 11 students complained about the same to their parents. The parents promptly reported the matter to the police.

Following a complaint by the victims, a probe was launched into the matter, and the CCTV footage of the higher secondary school was examined. After receiving the investigation report from the six-member internal complaint committee of the school, a case was registered against the accused on Saturday, and he was arrested, an official said.

The accused has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 74 (use of criminal force or assault on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
