Nursing College Scam: MP High Court Orders Removal Of Medical Education Director & Nursing Council Registrar Over Involvement In Irregularities |
Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): In a major development in the Madhya Pradesh nursing college scam, the High Court has ordered direct removal of the current Director of Medical Education (DME) Jitendra Shukla and Registrar of the Nursing Council Anita Chand.
The decision was taken after the court observed that the officials who were allegedly involved in irregularities during the inspection of nursing colleges were later assigned to prominent positions.

Taking strong actions against the same, the court directed the dismissal of the two dignitaries from their respective posts.
According to information, the two officials had allegedly granted accreditation to ineligible nursing colleges, including the RKS College in Bhopal for the academic year 2021-22. Despite their involvement in the scam, both were posted at high-ranking positions.

No action against Anita Chand for last two months
According to Petitioner’s Lawyer Advocate Vishal Baghel, Anita Chand had aided the RKS College in securing accreditation despite its ineligibility. Later, she was appointed Registrar of the Nursing Council instead of being penalized. He further stated that no action had been taken on complaints against her for over two months.

HC directs to take appropriate action
In response, the government informed the court that a committee had been formed to investigate the complaints. However, the High Court refused to grant more time to the state, questioning how officials linked to such irregularities could be trusted to ensure fair actions when the matter is under CBI investigation and court monitoring.
The court directed the Principal Secretary of the Public Health and Medical Education Department to immediately remove both Dr. Jitendra Shukla and Anita Chand from their posts and report back to the court. Additionally, the Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh has been ordered to ensure appropriate action is taken in this matter.
